taxes are giving me nightmares

me+him

We had a fun weekend in Midway eating, partying, and cooing over babies. I even prepared my lesson for Sunday and brought cookies for all the girls, only to realize as I was handing them out that it was fast-Sunday. Apparently i'm the devil. One girl really let me know it too. Sunday and Monday I cried because, well, it was that time of month and I was doing taxes. Not a good combination. This lead me to have nightmares last night-but can I tell you how wonderful it is to have someone to burrow under when you are having nightmares??? My poor husband.

I feel like I apologize to my newby spouse at least 7 times a day. He is so nice, and I am, well, the devil. I am glad he doesn't regret marrying me when I break down in tears while doing taxes or throw a tantrum because he wants to buy a Volvo Cross Country Wagon. (but c'mon- since when did I marry a 50-year old woman who teaches yoga and keeps dogs caged in the back of her car??) He is always so good to me and tickles my back and tells me that everything is going to be ok. because lets be honest--when you are on your period doing taxes, it seems like nothing is ever going to be OK. Thank goodness I have him, because if I didn't, i'd probably be looking for comfort in a tub of red vines.

I should be ashamed of myself

As i've mentioned before-Adam's Mother loves her decorations and anything festive. This being said, Adam grew up in a beautiful home alWayS perfectly decorated for the holidays-the stockings hung, garland draping from every corner, 2 Christmas trees, sweater parties, the smells of Christmas throughout the house--mistletoe...you get the picture.

ONce December hit, I had no motivation. No lights, no tree, not one candy cane in sight. We still had boxes and un-opened wedding presents around. Why would I decorate when we don't ever have people over and we are hardly ever in our house? Waste of money I thought....i'll wait until next year.
I know, I know, bah-humbug.
Well, throughout the next couple of weeks Adam kept giving me little hints: "We should buy some pine or cinnamon scented candles" or " We can borrow lights from my Mom to put over the fireplace"....etc., etc...
I felt awful. Here he was, my little Elf taken from his North Pole and married for time and all eternity to the Grinch.
So last night, December 17th, he had had enough. I come home from work and all the lights in the house are off. Glowing Christmas lights are draped everywhere. Along the kitchen cupboards leading to the living room, around the desk and wall, in our bedroom-around the mirror, and of course all over the fireplace. I look down and there he was, my little Elf fast asleep snoozing on the couch under all the twinkling lights. I didn't know if I should pee my pants laughing, or cry.
Yes I know, I should be ashamed of myself.

Adam usually comes up with a new term of endearment for me every morning once I get up. It's usually something along the lines of "sweet cheeks", "cute girly", or "wife baby".
I think he's running out of things to call me, because this morning it was "Butter Pie".

I'm not too fond of that one.

My whole life my Mom has thought my Dad's Birthday was December 23rd. It's actually December 22nd.
I promise I will never forget your Birthday, Husband. I love you.

And no Mom, I don't think this is bad, I think it's hilarious.

One Month Down....

San Diego

Things i've learned about my husband in the past month that I didn't know about the past year and a half:
1. I am a trophy wife in training. Not only does he have some greys sprouting from his temples-he also insisits on buying old man butter. The white kind in the tub with zero-none-zippo! cholesterol. This was kindof an issue-I registered for a cute butter dish! And lets not talk about the kink he has in his back as of yesterday...
I'm just waiting for him to throw ensure into our grocery cart.
2. He is also a little boy. He sings me a song every morning in a little kid voice and pouts and flales his arm when he doesn't get his way. regular butter = pout & arm flale.
3. Shoes. Wow, shoes. I mean, I knew he owned a lot of shoes-but this fetish is unbelievable. The other day there were 6 pairs lying next to our bed. 6!? Don't even get me started on the tupperware bins...
4. He is very clean. Despite the clothes and, ahem, shoes lying around the bedroom-he is always cleaning and tidying our little abode and helping with the laundry and dishes.
5. He's a real BOY. He takes 2 minutes to get ready every morning and always leaves the seat up-this has become quite a problem because apparently it's giving me nightmares.
6. He scratches my back practically in his sleep. Could there possibly be anything better?!
7. Now i've known this from the beginning, but he is always thinking of things to do--it's nice marrying someone who has more friends than I do acquaintances.
8. He is a dream-reader. But we already established that.
9. Adjusting to married life with him has been so extremely easy and fun-I couldn't ask for anything more! Well, maybe some cute couches-but that's it ;)

I dreamed a dream

I have long, detailed, VIVID dreams almost every single night, and I wake up every morning confused, racking my brain trying to figure out the significance of these strange dreams! I long to visit a wizard-like lady with a lot of cats, and sit in her home while listening to her interpret the meaning of my dreams, and maybe play with the ouija board-but isn't that against my religion?
SOOO, I have this reoccuring dream that I am in a huge bathroom (a different one each time) with 100 stalls, and I need to go to the bathroom-but every time I open the door to a stall, the toilet is disgusting and dirty and the seat is usually missing. This particular dream took a strange turn when I found myself stuck in a house with an old creepy man without legs chasing me like a gorilla trying to chop MY legs off. Interesting, I know.

Lucky for me, I married a dream-reader.

I wrote him an e-mail at work the other day asking him what he thinks all of this means, and without missing a beat, he responds with this:

Hey sweet cheeks,
My day is going good. How’s yours? The toilet dream is because I keep on leaving the seat up, the chopped off legs one is because we saw that woman cruising her dog in the park on her high powered rascal with her legs cut off. Hope this helps and also hope that you’re having a great day too.

Love ur guts,
Adam B.

PHEW! What would I do without him??? ....

honeymoon

Honeymoon 145
Honeymoon 077
Honeymoon 149
Honeymoon 159
Honeymoon 136
untitled
Honeymoon 107
I cried almost the entire flight to Mexico-I just thought of our wedding the night before and cried cried cried. It was so wonderful. The girl next to me on the plane kept handing me tissues. (I'm sorry I embarrassed you Adam)
I was fine once we landed, and so our honeymoon began...

I loved cuddling you and kissing your cute dimple every night. I loved swimming with the sea turtles with you. I love playing lifeguard with you at night in the pool. I loved when you posed like a body builder. I loved riding the scooter all over Isla de Mujeres with you. I loved that it poured rain all over us. I loved how after introducing yourself to every Mexican, they all asked if my name was "Eve". I love that you wouldn't let me buy the $6 dollar haribo gummy bears. I love that we yelled in the echo-dome in the Houston airport. I love that one day you decided from that day forward you would just call me "sexy". I love that you speak spanish, and I love that my favorite part of the whole honeymoon was cuddling with you and watching iron chef.
I loved our luna de miel and I love being your wifey.

xo,
Sexy.

The Peacock Feather

Last summer when Adam and I were dating, I came home from work one night with 2 peacock feathers. I gave Adam one and kept one for myself. We both kept them in our bedrooms. Come September, I started freaking myself out-about dating, marriage, commitment, etc. I always thought about my future with Adam and just planned on marrying him--but the idea scared the heebie jeebies out of me, and I started thinking to myself, "Is this really it? Is HE really it?" He is so wonderful, and there is nothing more I want in a guy, but I have NEVER really dated someone this serious in my life, so what do I have to compare this all too??? I started having anxiety attacks and wasn't getting any answers to my what now seem like ridiculous (and hilarious) prayers. When I was with Adam it just felt right, and when I wasn't with him, I wanted to be with him--so what was my DEAL? I was just scared of the doubts I was having. So, I couldn't handle it anymore and I marched over to his house one night, sat by his bed and broke up with him. While I was doing this I thought he looked so cute sitting there on the bed. I started balling. I prolly sounded so stupid, because I had no reason for what I was doing. I thought if I did this, I would walk away feeling SO much better--like I did the right thing. Well, as I was sitting there doing the ugly cry and blurting nonsene, he was trying so hard to be understanding. Finally, as I stood up, he said it-(and not very nice), "Take your peacock feather". "What?!" I said, "You don't want it???" (Duh Erin...why would he want it). He just shook his head "No". So I grab the long feather from his dresser and as dramatic as possible, I dragged it out behind me. HA! I then get in my car and that's when all Hell Breaks Lose. I lose it. I Start crying uncontrollably. I look at the peacock feather and cry harder. I start driving, but have to pull over because I can't see a thing. I call my mom and the conversation went something like this:
Mom: "Hello?"
Me: "MMoooom?? EEAHH I BRrroke Addam eeaaauhhh....he told me...my peacock feather...aaeehhh!! feele so baad ...aahuhuh.."
Mom: "Whhhaaaa??? Oh Erin, Well what did you expect?!!"
p.s. let me just tell you, my Mom was on Adams side the whole time.

Well the next 2 days were the worst days of my life and I stared--literally stared at my phone just hoping he would call me. I guess I was too scared to call him in fear that he would have already been over me.
Then he called. The heavens opened and I ran to him and fell on my knees and kissed his feet. OK, maybe not. But i've been madly in love ever since.
Why am I so stupid and why am I such a girl? I still have both peacock feathers, but one is bent, wilted, and only has about 4 strands left on it. I think that's the one I dragged out of his room that night....

ENGAGED! (in a very good cause)

3 years ago my best friend was serving a mission when she had a dream one night that I was going to marry a boy named "Adam". When she told me this in a letter, I didn't know any Adams at the time. Well 2 years later I met a boy and he asked me out on a date. Soon after, we went on a second date, then a third date, and so on. Eventually we fell in love and he proposed last night in a yurt.
His name is Adam.

That dang dimple.

Who'da thought....
