millcreek

These colorful leaves are long gone, but i've been meaning to post these pictures of a hike we took up Millcreek Canyon when Charlie boy was just 7 weeks old.   I was hunkered in my house the tail end of summer/beginning of fall so this was literally a breath of fresh air. I can't believe we live just 5 minutes away from this! Baby boy was just as thrilled about it - as you can tell ;)

that time of year...

You know you're getting old when you ask for
SHEETS for your birthday present.
But really, this is the only thing I want.

That and a dozen donuts from Banbury Cross ;)

6 weeks

Six weeks has been a big turning point for me.  The first month I honestly didn't know how I was going to balance this new baby, my job, our home and my baby-daddy. There have been many breakdowns, many sleepless nights and many times I was crying right there along with Charlie. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed. Babies are HARD, people. And this is coming from someone [who thought] they were more prepared than ever and who has wanted a baby since she was twelve—
I think there was one point around three weeks where I considered returning him to the hospital.

Thank goodness I didn't because this week I have fallen hard for this little turkey.  He has definitely changed our lives, and although this is the hardest thing i've ever done-it is the best thing I have ever done.  I feel so blessed to be his mom and munch on him whenever I want.

I love you, Charlie boy.

"Hooray! I slept 6 hours last night!"

meet charlie

Charlie Taggart Buie
 7 lbs 6 oz of perfection

Our baby boy was born August 4, 2012.  I get all teary-eyed not only thinking of his birth, but of my entire pregnancy. I loved being pregnant. I loved giving birth. It has been by far the most special, hardest and sacred year of my life.

After 12 hours of labor this little boy came into the world and changed everything. I was on such an emotional high the whole night that the whole experience became such a blur.
It wasn't until they wheeled him in at 4 am the next morning to be fed that it really hit me.  The room was really dark and it was just the two of us.  He stared right into my eyes and I lost it.  I couldn’t believe it.  He was looking right at me like he knew me.  I feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful labor and delivery.  And by wonderful, I mean I was crying as we left the hospital. I wanted to hold on to that experience FOREVER.

We are so blessed to have this little but strong spirit in our home (and by strong spirit-I mean this baby has some vocal chords. yowza.)

More pics to come. Let me just get some sleep first...

pinned

 Husband knows when i'm really quiet and staring intently at the computer, it could only be one thing: pinterest. (That, or i'm shopping for baby and don't want him to know).

 Some of my favorite pins this week:

  {succulents for my kitchen window}

{a sweet and eclectic kid's room}
{i'll take one of each, please}

{converting our shed into something like this shouldn't be too hard-
or very hard}

{wooden bowls. I think I need 30}

6 months

6 months

How am I already 6 months pregnant?
I had an appointment today and baby's heart beat is strong and healthy.
Sleeping is starting to get uncomfortable, my feet have been cramping, and the days are getting warmer....i'm trying not to think about being 9 months pregnant in August!!!

My appetite is back in full force. Well, almost. The thought of eating a hot dinner the first trimester of my pregnancy made me want to ralph. The first three months I lived off of PB&J's, fruit cups and crackers. I don't know how I got through our Christmas Eve feast. I still can't believe my family didn't catch on that I was pregnant during New Years when I exclaimed at 10:00 at night that all I wanted to eat was french fries and Perrier.
I haven't had any really cravings. I'm just thirsty ALL.THE.TIME. I've been drinking water all the live-long-day. Fruit and citrus always sounds good to me...but so does an apple fritter. oh, and root beer. So basically, my cravings haven't changed a bit. heh.

I can't wait to meet this little boy. Well, I can.  There's a lot we need to do around here--like get his room ready, pick out a name, and enjoy our last few months of sleep ;)

Sunday

We have been out of town all week or else I would have dyed some eggs and made sugar cookies for Easter. Luckily we got back just in time to spend Easter Sunday with my family and have a grown up Easter egg hunt (really). I spent my morning putting together our table scape for dinner and had a little too much fun doing it...

Easter

Until next year! (when we will have a little baby bunny of our own ;)

.Happy Easter.

Oh boy

I haven't bought a lot for baby boy yet. I guess i'm just waiting to see what I need. Boy clothes are hard. I did however find some gems online that I can't WAIT to add to my shopping cart:

baby boy

1./ 2./ 3./ 4./ 5./ 6./ 7./ 8./ 9.

And I know, I know-he's just going to puke and poop all over these so I don't want to spend loads of money on pieces that he'll destroy and/or only wear once-but this IS my first baby after all.
Now if only somebody can help us decide on a name...

oh, hello

snow

My mom sent me an email today saying she missed my blog. I've felt a little uninspired lately, and writing about how we slept in until 10 am and stayed in our pajamas all day - every day during christmas break isn't really blog worthy.

But today I got ready, and we went out in the snow. It snowed! Finally!

And now I am home alone. watching The Notebook and eating canned pears for dinner. Geeeez...that's a really rainy sex scene they just showed on TV...

Don't worry Mom, i'm alone because Adam went to get a hair cut—but actually he just walked in and told me he has spent the past hour and a half at Thrift Town. Really?

See? You haven't missed much.

I promise my next post will be a tad more exciting. I hope.
